A fresco fragment depicting Urania, the Muse of Astronomy, from the House of Julia Felix in Pompeii, 62-79 CE. Julia Felix was a wealthy and influential woman from Pompeii who lived in the 1st century CE. She is best known today because her luxurious property, known as the Estate of Julia Felix, survived the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 CE and offers rare insight into Roman urban life, especially the rare role of elite women in business and society.
